Threads for Change Presents: Miss Forney Scholarship Pageant

The Miss Forney Scholarship Pageant, an initiative of the Threads for Change, is a transformative event that celebrates the values of leadership, excellence, and community engagement. In partnership with Forney ISD and the City of Forney, this pageant provides 11th-grade students with a platform to showcase their talents, leadership skills, and dedication to making a difference in their community.

 

With its tagline, “Values, Excellence, Community,” the Miss Forney Scholarship Pageant is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of character, achievement, and civic pride. Together with Forney ISD and the City of Forney, we aim to build future leaders and inspire a lasting legacy of positive change in our community.

Objectives

  1. Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community pride and involvement among Forney City residents through initiatives, events, and internship opportunities that encourage active participation and local collaboration.
  2. Youth Empowerment: Provide 11th-grade students with an opportunity to showcase their talents, leadership skills, and community contributions.
  3. Promote Positive Activities: Encourage youth participation in constructive and meaningful events that inspire personal and collective growth.
  4. Awareness for Threads for Change: Highlight the mission and initiatives of Threads for Change Foundation, emphasizing its role in empowering youth through fashion and education.

Goals

  1. Leadership Development: Cultivate public speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills among participants.
  2. Confidence Building: Empower young women with the confidence to express themselves and represent their community.
  3. Advocacy: Create ambassadors who will promote social causes, including Threads for Change programs, within Forney and beyond.
  4. Scholarship and Opportunity: Provide recognition, awards, or scholarships to participants to support their educational or professional aspirations.
  5. Community Unity: Strengthen ties between residents, local businesses, and organizations by involving them in the event as sponsors, mentors, or supporters.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Residency: Applicants must be current residents of the City of Forney.
  • Grade Level: Open to 11th-grade students currently residing in Forney and enrolled in a public, private, or homeschool program
  • Academic Standing: Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Commitment: Participants must be willing to actively engage in all rehearsals, community service events, and pageant-related activities leading up to and following the event.
  • Initiative: Applicants should have a meaningful initiative or project idea they wish to introduce or implement in their school, community, or state.
