Honoring Impact: Sonya Mofor Nominated for Juneteenth at the Spellman Community Impact Award

We are proud to share that our visionary leader, Sonya Mofor, CEO of Threads for Change, has been nominated for the Juneteenth at the Spellman Community Impact Award—a recognition that celebrates changemakers uplifting communities through action, compassion, and purpose-driven leadership.

Presented by the Xi Delta Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., the Community Impact Award honors individuals who embody the spirit of Juneteenth through their unwavering commitment to service, advocacy, and empowerment. This year, Sonya’s nomination reflects her dedication to reshaping narratives around youth leadership, professional development, and community uplift in North Texas.

 

Through Threads for Change and her role as Executive Director of the Miss Forney Scholarship Pageant, Sonya has transformed traditional platforms into engines of purpose—centering fashion, education, and opportunity for young men and women. Her innovative programs such as the Dress for Success Monthly Workshops and the Miss Forney Pageant are more than events—they are gateways to growth, mentorship, and self-belief for the next generation of leaders.

The recognition will take place during the Juneteenth at the Spellman celebration on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Spellman Amphitheater. Sonya will be honored between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. as the community gathers to commemorate freedom, legacy, and collective progress.
